When I try to install acrobat I get a mesage that "a more functional product is already installed", but I have uninstalled all acrobat-related files, including from the registry. As a result, I can't open any .pdf files. Any suggestions? Thanx

Do you mean you can't install Adobe Acrobat Reader? What version are you trying to install?

Try running a registry cleaner. CCleaner has a decent, safe one.

"but I have uninstalled all acrobat-related files"

And how did you do that? Did you run the uninstaller or just delete the program folder? And why are you trying to make this change anyway...it sounds like you're downgrading?

If all you wanna do is read PDF files, try Foxit Reader.

I agree with Jam, switch to the Foxit reader.

Foxit is excellent and is not bloatware like Adobe Acrobat. Give it a try... it really is very good!
Have you any other software installed that will deal with PDF files but not associated with them?

I used four procedures to uninstall adobe/acrobat: windows uninstaller, file search, regseeker, and registry search. Every time I tried to install adobe 8.0 I got an error message. Anyway, I just installed Foxit - it appears to work quite well. Thanx to all
