Hi i just recently download a program and when i go to install it i get an error message saying "an installation support file could not be installed. Error loading type library/dll." anyone know why??

in essence, if you have an XP install disc, try a sfc /scannow to replace the missing file.
Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

i dont have the xp disk... dunno why but didnt get one when i purchased my labtop... but i tried them both anyway and neither of them worked when i tried what the website said to do it said invalid path and i ran sfc /scannow and it ran but nothing happened when it finished.... still cannot install... i checked my system 32 folder and the only stdole file in there is stdole2.tlb is that the only one thats suppose to be or is stdole and stdole32 suppose to be in there 2? in my i386 folder there are all 3 stdole32.tl stdole2.tl and stdole.tl can those be copied into my system 32 folder and renamed to .tlb 's instead of .tl 's ?

If you did not get a WinXp cd then how would you reload your system if it crashs??
You may have a partition on which the contents of the WinXp exsist?
I would look at any documentation that you got to determine how to reload you system. Take care some reloads completely wipe the main partition then reload.

Thunderbird 1.5.0.7

i guess i would have to take it back to compusmart where i bought it... they proly dont give you xp cd's so when something does go wrong you have to take it back to them pay to fix it... only reason i can think of why they wouldnt give you a xp disk with it

did you not read the link in response 1? I think that explains it.
Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks
