I was running Windows XP, then I upgraded to Windows Vista Business Edition. I decided to go back to XP for now, but discovered that I can't. I get an error that says "setup did not find any hard disk drives installed on your computer."

Since this point I have tried everything I can think of, checked all the cables (which wouldn't make sense because Vista does run), reset the BIOS, I tried installing windows 98 and it failed, Ubuntu failed - The only thing I can get working on this system now is Vista - please help me!

The answer to "setup did not find any hard disk drives installed on your computer" is HERE

Didn't M$ warned you that there will be no turning back once you begin the upgrade process?

What did you hope to accomplish by resetting the BIOS? Hopefully you ran thru all the settings & corrected them.

As XpUser said, there is no turning back. You're gonna have to backup whatever you need, wipe the HDD, & start from scratch.

I want to start from scratch, I have no problem with that, it just won't do it.

I don't have a floppy drive so that limits my ability to follow that guide. How else can I get the driver incorporated into the XP install?

//Scratch that last bit, I just got it working with a USB thumb drive, I'll post back if this works.

Ok - I got it working, the USB thing didn't work, but I used Nlite to slipstream the driver into the XP install. Thanks for the help!
