xp related problem. this isn't a serious problem but it's irritating. in taskbar properties in the customize section i've found a couple of icons for programmes which i deleted ages ago. for some reason i can't delete these. they are not interfering with anything and will never be used or appear in the task bar but i would be grateful if anyone can show me the way to getting rid of the little buggers.

1. startmenu, go to īrun...ī type īmsconfigī.
Uncheck the programs so they donīt boot at startup.
2. There have to be still some files on your pc so the programs arenīt totally deleted.
Probably there are still references in the registry.
In īrun..ī type īregeditī, search using the program name and delete all references.Else use jv16 Powertools to automically delete all references at once.

click START, RUN, and type MSCONFIG. click on the STARTUP tab. look for the program in question. out to the right it gives you the path in the registry that corresponds to the programs icon. enter REGEDIT and delete the registry key for that program.

This is how you do it
1.Open Regedit, Go to:HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\TrayNotify
2.Delete the IconStreams and PastIconsStream values
3.Open Task Manager, click the Processes tab, click Explorer.exe , and then click End Process .
4.In Task Manager, click File , click New Task , type explorer , and then click OK .

problem solved. big thanks to "globul". also thanks to all other contributors.
