i was given a computer and when i go to turn it on all i get is a black screen. When i press a button on moniter it says computer in sleep mode. It says to press power button, or hit a key or move the mouse. i try all three and get nothing. Any ideas here? Computer is only a year and a half old and it worked fine when my friend had it in his office last week.

Have you tried unplugging the power cable? Unplug it, wait at least 15 minutes, then plug it back in.

At what point exactly do you see the "Sleep mode" message?

It is possible some cables were loosened in the move? Have you opened the case and checked all the connections?

It may be a driver problem. I had a similar problem once and it turned out to be a faulty driver
