Can't get out of dos mode

I'm trying to install windows xp homebaesd program,but i can't get out of dos mode.I bought my computer from a computer shop and the man said that he couldn't leave is window in the computer so he took it out and he put a floppy disk in it and said for me to leave it in there when i install my disk that everything else will come up,but nothing happens i don't know what to do to get out of dos mode and setup my program. Could anyone help me?

Do you have a cd that came with the operating system if yes put it in the cd rom and leave the disk in the floppy and start up to see what it does.

I put the disk in and it doesn't do anything it's still in the dos mode i've tried putting the word exit,setup,start up,run but none of these worked.i don't know what else to do.

Take your floppy disk out go into bios and make your first boot sequence as cdrom and put your copy of xp in it and reboot and follow instruction.
