Hey yo, fred!

WTFITS! (short for what the hell is that s---)

I've been using XP pro in conjunction with a Geforce 2mx...and it works. not better than on Win2k, but hey... who am I to blame Microsoft?? (A damn user, that is.)

Just make sure you've got the latest drivers found on www.ati.com, and not those ugly immitation of drivers supplied with Micros--- Windoze.

And greeeatttt gaming, buddies.

Windows XP DOES NOT provide OpenGL drivers for ATI cards. I just read that on ATI's driver download site. Go there and get the upgraded drivers that support OpenGL.

Regards, Tony

Windows XP's native drivers don't support OpenGL, Glide, or anything other than D3D. To get OpenGL you will need to download and install ATI's drivers.

ATI has Open gl drivers for most cards in XP. I have a Radeon VE Duel Display and Xp came with drivers for it but no OpenGL support. I kept checking back and they eventually got them. I'm using XP Pro on a AMD 750mhz Duron and OpenGL works on mine. One problem i have noticed. OpenGL looks better than D3D but is slower. Not sure why still tinkering with the settings. If i figure it out i'll write back

I just loaded XP Pro and got it to blue screen in under 15 minutes. wuwd?
Tried running Return to Castle Wolfenstein using ATI's x540 Xtreme.

XP loaded drivers with no OpenGL support.
ATI doesn't have XP driver for it. I loaded the Win2k drivers for the Xtreme and can play the opening movie and forst cut scene, when it tried to load the game open ...blam. Error ...error ... apology from XP ...bluescreen.

MS, ATI, drivers.com. Tom's Hardware ...no one has these drivers yet ...do they?

Am willing to load any 12yr old hackers attempt at a driver to get on with my life. I don't know why I loaded XP anyway. Should've went with 2K. Just tired of tweaking 98 I guess. And WinMe was never an option.

Thanks to anyone who can help.

I'll make a resume for those clear sight impaired

Drivers included with XP = NO OPENGL
Drivers on ATI = OPENGL if they wrote it

So... if you just installed XP, it is NORMAL for you not to ba able to use OPENGL

If you upgraded your drivers and still can't get OPENGL to kick in, then obviously the driver you downloaded does not include OPENGL - blame ATI

That's all folks !

ATI do not support laptop devics, you need to go to the manufacturer's website. I have an IBM Thinkpad A20p with ATI Mobility on XP. I found that the driver was included with XP, though no OpenGl support. I went to IBM website and downloaded the Mobility 128 driver for 2000, Version "M6.61-011014M-1741C". I found this worked well and I can now play Wolfensien. Hope this helps!

Hi there, i've seen so many drivers now, but none of them seems to work on my CompaqE500 with Win xp on it :( It's not because of the openGl but for the TV-Out on the Laptop. And the 2nd monitor out. I want to use them, but i can't right now.
I've already checked : http://www.compaq.com/support/files/armada/us/download/11021.html
http://doosk.tripod.com/download.htm
http://support.ati.com/drivers/winxp/winxp_5_1_2001_0_rp_xl_xc.html

Can someone help me with this prob. ?? Thnx

I have downloaded the new drivers for ATI Rage 128 Pro for XP from ATI website (version 6.13.3279) but I have an error during the installation, saying that "This display driver is not compatible with the display adapter(s) installed in your system".
I have also tried to install it manually from the inf file but it didn't work...
Can someone help me?
