can't get on the internet

I have an e machine 80 gig home computer which priviously had locked up. After crashing it and putting in the recovery discs it seems to be working ok. anyway, now you can't get on the interenet. we have dsl. i can take my laptop and plug it in to the ethernet cable and get on the internet. however this computer can't seem to find the connection. shouldn't it automatically pick up the isp address and get on or is this something i need to call my isp about. help

Your ISP can do a better job of walking you through the steps of getting connected again. Write down on paper, the steps, so you remember next time. You are paying them for a connection, so they will help you.

what you need it do is log into your dsl account. install the software that came with your modem on the emachine. then when it prompts you for user name and password put it in. it should walk you through it. if you dont have it you'll probably need to call them.
