I have a Yamaha CD (CRW2100E) burner running XP 2600.
Everytime I go to copy files to my CD I get a message to insert a writable CD.
I'm using CD-RW disks!
I can view what's ont the disks but can't write to them.
Any ideas on this one?

Same here!! I put this on a post earlier and someone deleted it. Thanks!!!
EZCD Creator and WMP8 keep saying I need to put in recordable media. I have tried three brands of cds and with two dif burners of the same model.

More info...
I booted up my WIn98SE partition and erased the used RW CD I was trying to use on XP.
Booted back to XP and I was able to write files to the CD!!!
What does this mean? Why couldn't I use my RW Cd's that already had data on them?

Different UDF format! In Windows XP, you can't read any CD-r or CD-rw burnt with any previous version of EZCD C (4, 3...) not installed on Windows XP in the first place. You ought to install the previous version of EZCD C on win XP, burn CD and then upgrade to EZCD C5. The later would read the media in this case. Otherwise, forget about your CDs. Unless someone finds a way to trick the registry on the data on the CD burnt with the previous versions of EZCD C. Does it make sense?

None of my cd-burning programs saw my cd burner---until I installed ASPI drivers that claimed to be work in WINXP. Since then every program sees my writer. If you want the drivers e-mail me.

I had the same problem, and I updated the Firmware and it seems to "see" blank disks. It also writes but screws up 5 seconds before the end and says my cd may be unusable. My garbage can is filled with screwed up cds by now, and I don't know what to do! HELP!

I have a Creative blaster CD-RW drive 8x4x32. I also have Windows XP Professional Version 2002. System: AMD 1.2 ghz. 192 RAM. 20 gig HD. My Burner doesn't work in XP. It worked with 98 and 2000 prof. and now i have XP and it doesn't work. I need some words of knowledge from an enlightening being...

Disable DMA...Follow Yamaha's instructions:
1) Disable the 'DMA' option.
a) Click the button from the Windows taskbar.
b) Select 'Settings' from the 'Start' options.
c) Select 'Control Panel' from the 'Settings' options.
d) Double-click the 'System' icon.
e) Click the 'Hardware' tab.
f) Click the button.
g) Double-click the 'IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers' option.
h) Double-click the IDE channel option (Primary or Secondary) that corresponds to the IDE channel of the Yamaha drive.
i) Click the 'Advanced Settings' tab.NOTE: There are two 'Device' sections under 'Advanced Settings'. Device 0 is the 'Master' device and Device 1 is the 'Slave' device on the selected IDE channel.
j) In the appropriate 'Device' section that corresponds to the Yamaha drive, select 'PIO Only' in the 'Transfer Mode' drop-down list box.
k) Click the button.
l) Click the button to reboot the computer.Let me know if this makes you all happy...

USE NERO!!!!!!!!! That is my answer to all of your problems. It will let you copy any cd and it won't give you errors about the cd not working. I used to have that problem with some other burning software company's, The only program that i have found that lets me copy anything is nero. It works really well with WinXp also. But if you try and copy OFFICE XP in windows xp then WinXP will give you a error and you have the restart that is the only problem that I have seen with Nero in WinXP. www.nero.com
