Can't get a signal on my Wireless

Recently I bought a Wireless Lan card: Ambit 802.11b MiniPCI Card Model# T60H656
I installed it in my laptop, found the driver in the internet and installed it too. It seems to work as in the device manager it appears as: LAN-Express IEEE 802.11 PCI Adapter
BUT, when I try to look for any wireless networks in range it won't find anything (although connection is possible from my girlfriend's laptop via the wireless) what can I do??

'802.11b' in your post means it's old technology and will not connect to a WPA-enabled network, which most people use nowadays. You really need an 11g card.

I guess you mean that it won't even recognize the network...
thanks a lot, I guess I need to get an other one (on ebay again, but now I know what not to get ;) )
do you have any tips concerning what I should get?

you may not have the proper drivers installed. I don't agree with the b and g thing. My old laptop has a PCI card that is a b and I can get connected anywhere there is a hotspot.
Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

I do believe that I have installed the proper drivers as I have downloaded them from the companies website (although they seem to be pretty old) You can see for yourself at: http://www.ambitbroadband.com/downl...

You may have to search around for the proper driver. The reason I say this is because I had the same problem with a sakar usb wireless adaptor. See if this search helps: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&...
Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

No, sorry but I couldn't find anything better, I'm pretty sure that the driver is correct (I also found another source which installed the same driver again...)
any other suggestions?

no, sorry, maybe someone else. You could try using a PCMI wireless card, that would probably work for you.
