Comment: I have a computer on our domain that was infected with spyware and adware plus a hi-jacker. Since this has happened the computer can no longer access the internet, we use a proxy server all of the information for the proxy server is correct. But acts as if there is no proxy. When you try to ping another node as the command prompt comes up the computer beeps and says "Pinging oy with 32 bytes of data". What has caused the IP number to not be displayed? it will still get a reply from the pinged IP. Is there a registry key that has been changed that causes the system not to see the proxy server?

Reply: tsandlin, sounds to me as though that particular machine may not be completely clean yet and still suffer from some of the effects of the nasty. First, I'd make SURE it's clean (disable restore prior to cleaning) and then if it still wouldn't do right, reset the home page in IE to see if that does the trick. Maybe you need to reinstall? HTH.
