You didn't tell us what you have tried to do except your xp disk does not work.
What did you try to do with your xp disk?

If you installed SP2 after the fact then it can be found in Control Panel> add/remove programs. You may need to check the box to show updates in order to see it. Is the reason you want to remove SP2 because you are getting a message that the version of WinXP on the CD is older than the installed version?
Your other option is to sliptream SP2 or SP3 into the files on your WinXP CD. nLite OS can easily perform that if you have access to the internet and a CD writer/program on the same computer.
