Hi,
I reinstalled Windows XP on a friends computer because it was full of viruses. The problem now is that I can't find the drivers for his network adapter. I don't even know what the adapter is called, because the computer is locked, so you can't open it.
Anyway, the computer is a HP Pavillion 743, and he claims that nothing has been altered since he got it, so I was wondering if anyone here knows what kind of network adapter came with this particular computer. I called HP and asked them, but they didn't know, so I hope you do.
Thanks in advance.

I think this is what you're looking for. I uploaded it to my web site for you:

If not, try HP support

jboy, believe it or not I checked HP for him first and there was hardly anything there. I looked up the specs and found (what I hope is) the driver on www.driverguide.com.

Ok - I believe you, if that makes you feel any better

You said I reinstalled Windows XP on a friends computer . How was windows reinstalled? If you used recovery cd's you should not have any issues however if you used the OEM Win Xp then you will have issues with anything to do with the mobo.
Call Hp and buy recovery cd's for about 20 bucks if you do not have them already.
Also using the recovery cd's involves a special proccess that is NOT documented anyware, most ppl just pop in the disk and follow the directions on the monitor and they all fail to recover the pc.
If you have recovery cd's for this computer and need help let me know.
If your computer says, "Printer out of Paper," this problem cannot be resolved by continuously clicking the "OK" button.

I'm interested to know what you mean by "the computer is locked so you can't open it." I'd love to see a photo of this "lock."
