I posted a request for help today and I recieved a confirmation that it was posted but i can not find my post to view the replys. I have read all related problems on this site to no avail. Only one was a match and I tried all the replys to his problem to no avail. My problem: Windows Explorer warns me that it has to close. It does it so frequently that I tire of turning the puter on. When I click OK in the warning dialog box, everything on my desktop disappears except the wallpaper. There is no Taskbar, np Start button, no icons on the desktop to click on in order to restore operation. I finally have to do a Ctrl+Alt+Delete and choose Users and Logoff. I then log back on and everything is fine for a few minutes. It all started about a month ago after a MS update was installed. My last update was done after a clean install of XP Home with nothing slse on the puter but the operating system itself. I did this to guarantee no software clashes. It didn't make any difference.

Also to say, you should get more RAM.
XP uses all of, at least, 128 to run properly,
and works better. Then Need more than that
for running other programs.

The Ram you see after the forward slash should have a "." and should have read .98GB of ram. Basically I have two chips containing 512MB each for a total of 1024 MB of installed Ram with .98GB available Ram, according to System Properties/General. Which if I am correct is eqivalent to 980 MB. I thought by putting all that Memory in it it would speed things up but, it slowed it down a little instead but, I never have a crash so, I did accomplish something.
I found a MS download for "Win. Explorer" to patch a problem they discovered when exiting a folder. I downloaded the patch and waited to see if exiting the folders on my puter would cause the problem to suface. Sure enough when I exited a folder "Win. Explorer" had to close so, I installed the patch and I'm praying (another form of begging) that it will fix it.

Remove the offending update? My God, where would I start. M$ has put so many updates and security patches out in the past month that I don't know which one did this to me. My puter showed one almost every day last week. Some of the updates cannot be removed according to the documents I read before I installed them. The first batch I installed were all downloaded after a fresh install of XP, all at the same time and then throughout the week I kept seeing more.

Using Windows Update you can 'review' your updates, and if possible retrograde.

Hi Jeruvy,
I know about reviewing the upgrades history but, what is this "retrograde"? I understand that "Retro" means to go back to the past but, exactly what are you refering to and what is involved in order to accomplish it?
