After running Ad Aware, and rebooted it couldn't find msiefr40.dll Solution: In XP, I went into REGEDIT.exe and searched for the file name msiefr40.dll and erased the command on the right hand side. It did the trick for me!

Hey Mike, Iam having the same problem. Would you be able to help me with it? I got into the regedit part, but am not sure which "right" side you are reffering to. I deleted the "string" but still get the message at start up. Would you please help me with a more detailed solution? Any help appreciated, Thanks, Janeen
Hi, I had the same problem with XP. Here what i done : - run regedit - look for "msiefr40.dll" it should be in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run - Modify the key (it should be "Rundll32_7")
for me the value was : "rundll32.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\msiefr40.dll,DllRunServer"
... which i modified to : "rundll32.exe DllRunServer"
It seems to be OK now.

I had the same proplem with cannot find msiefr40.dll so what I did was to check out the run thingy in registry and found a key which I hadn't seen there before. That was the key Bob mentioned, what I did was to just delete the key and reboot, and it works fine! The key isn't supposed to be there, no need to run rundll32 from there. That msiefr40 is some evil sh*t dunno what but whatever it is i don't like it. DELETE IT! =P
