Can't find FileInfoList active object

Specs: Windows XP
My XP will not shut down. I get this error Can't find FileInfoList active object and I have to shut down manually. I do not understand.

New2Systemmechanic, can't explain your error or suggest what to do about it, but I have run into and cured shutdown problems. FWIW, Windows seems to have been plagued with shutdown problems of one sort or another since day 1. I use a standalone shutdown proggie (for convenience) called 'Slawdog' (said to work on all versions). Get it free @:

among other places. Works good and I drag/dropped the icon into my quick launch so it'd be handy for use.
