Can't find domain

I'm working on a machine that was completely infected with spyware and worms. It seems that I've been able to get rid of everything, but since I did this when the computer is rebooted it can't find the domain. If you unplug the patch cable it will allow you to log in using the domain account. I can plug the cable back in and access everything on the network with no problem. In the process of cleaning off the spyware and worms, I deleted several files and registry keys. I must have deleting some network files. I'm not sure. I tried to reinstall XP, but that didn't solve the problem. Has anyone run into this before? Any ideas? Please help? Thanks

Have you tried:
Open My Network Places - on the left you'll see Add a network place.

Have you tried removing the PC from the domain (i.e. adding it to a pretend workgroup), restarting, then adding it back to the domain? Possibly delete the computer name account from the domain list before you readd it, then it will be readded afresh. Sounds simple, but maybe worth a try? :)
