cant find back up files

i did a system recovery via the hard drive because winxp failed to boot because i got the error msg ntldr is missing press crt+alt+del to reboot so i did a recovery with back up and now i can find the back up files

What do you mean by "recovery by backup?" What exactly did you do?

as in when you go into the recovery console it says full recovery(destructive) and full recovery(with back up) i chose the option with back up
