Specs: Windows XP Home Edition 2002 SP3, Pentium D 2.66
How can I enter Bios if my PS/2 doesn't seem to work?
I want to boot from CD but in windows the PS2 keyboard doesn't work. So i use a USB keyboard. But during boot it doesn't seem to recognize the USB keyboard and I can't get into bios or boot from CD

First thought is to try a different PS2 keyboard, if that doesn't work then you probably are in trouble as PS2 cannot really be repaired, though most systems since XP was introduced should recognise a USB keyboard. Are you sure you are pressing the correct key to get into the BIOS or Boot menu? Do any of the lights flash on the keyboard?

Did you power down the system and then remove the usb and add in a ps/2 keyboard?

Did you see lights blink on the keyboard when it was trying to power up?

Are you, or did you ever, hot swap the PS/2 keyboard? If so, you may have damaged the PS/2 circuits.

PS/2 keyboards must be connected before booting. Using adapters generally doesn't work either.

If you have 2 PS/2 ports use the purple one for the keyboard. If you have only one port, it may be marked with both purple and green.

Thank you very much!
I powered down the computer, unplugged the USB and plugged in the PS/2. It worked! I didn't think to do this because I could disconnect and reconnect the same PS/2 keyboard to a different XP computer and it worked smoothly every time. I assumed this meant I had a problem with the port.
Again, thank you.

OtheHill points out correctly that a PS/2 keyboard is not a device meant to be hot swapped.

Hang up and live.
