Okay...I can't download Macromedia Flash Player. I see a few others had the same proble.

"Having the same problem, shockwave player installs and works fine but the flash player only loads the instalation page but never pops up the security alert so it never trys to download the installer, also this has happened on 2 PC's ones a dell laptop running XP the others a custom made desktop running 2000 so to me it seems like the web page itself is not working, anybody have a solution?"
I'm having the same problem. I did a clean install of Win XP about two months ago. I've also recently downloaded SP2.About a week ago, I tried to download Flashplayer - but couldn't. My problem is identical to the one Joe details in response number five!
I'm running Zone Alarm Pro trial version (and SpywareBlaster, Ad-Aware, Spy-bot, and AVG antivirus - although I've always run those and never had a problem); I've also tired disabling pop up blockers in the SP2; tried reducing my IE6 browser security settings; run msconfig and shut off all programs at start up - to no avail! Very frustrating.
Any ideas what is wrong?

Sounds like your SP2 Firewall is blocking it. Go here for help

Well (long post),
I don't know what the heck happened, but I finally got Flash Player installed.
After trying just about everything under the sun, I noted the response from XPUser. I didn't think it was a problem with the Windows firewall - because I never enabled the Windows firewall - I was already using Zone Alarm and didn't want to run two firewalls.
Well, just to try an experiment, I enabled Windows Firewall for a few minutes, fooled around with some minor things, got disenfranchised, and disabled it again.
Then as I was following various knowledge base articles in MS database, I was forwarded to this link (which I had already been to many times in the past few weeks).
http://www.macromedia.com/support/flash/ts/documents/common_player_install.htm
But when I went down to "How do I download Macromedia Flash Player" and clicked on it (for about the tenth time in the last few weeks) ...
It suddenly worked! I got the appropriate little pop up box asking me to "Run" or "Cancel". I selected "Run" and Macromedia Flash Player installed.
I've checked out several sites and the Flash Player seems to work fine. And even better...and again I have no idea why...but it seems that the problem I was having with some pics not loading in my browser has been fixed too. Pics that would not appear before (usually I'd just get the box frame with a big red X in it) are now appearing.
Everything seems to be working okay. I can't believe...and the worst is that I did so many darn things, I quit honestly don't know what I toggled to fix the problem. On the surface, it appears that running wscui.cpl and turning Windows Firewall on and off was the only thing I really did. I don't know what that might have fixed the problem, but it seems to have.
I'll be very interested to see if others with this problem find that turning Windows Firewall on and off, and then going to the above link, fixes there problem as it seems to have done for me.

Serlin, my 2ยข worth (doesn't really matter in the big scheme of things), Uncle Bil doesn't make anything off Macromedia, now Media Player is a different story and since we all know that he isn't the least bit self serving...
