Is anyone else having problems downloading the latest Flash Player? The Adobe DLM completes and it says error encountered. I tried it twice under Administrator. Can you still get Flash for XP or not?

I already have the previous version. Is there any way of activating the app which tells you an update is available? This message came up and I said remind me later. But I don't want the message to come up when I'm not under Administrator account because then it won't install! This message comes up whenever it feels like. Isn't there a way of coaxing it to display?

Yes, Flash is available for all operating systems.

Settings are done on the Internet. You can get to the settings by right clicking any Flash Video. This direct link is always available:
The tab you want is the fourth one along.

Seems as if you need to turn off the notification completely then go to Adobe Flash Website and download updates manually when you are on the right account.
You can get them here for the browser(s) you are using - link to the right of the red F:

At yet another website you can check what version your are running (per browser):

If you are going to do it manually it would be best to put all of these links (and maybe others) together in a Folder in Favorites.

If the second link does not fix the issue you are having, then this website always has a current stand-alone file download for IE:
Steer clear of the big blue download button unless you want that registry booster rubbish. If you need a link for Firefox let me know.

We all live on the same ball.

Thanks! As luck would have it, the update tickler came up when I went into the Admin account. I now have the updated Flash 10.2 version.

For anyone viewing this post, I have now found an Adobe website where you can download the latest FlashPlayer as a file. There are two file versions, one for IE and one for other browsers. It is here:

It is about one third of the way down the page under the heading "Download Flash Player with the manual installer". Contrary to what they suggest, on my computer I have found it loads in on top of previous versions, which it removes.

In the last link I gave in post #3 (softwarepatch) no longer seems to be updating the version, so this is best avoided.

Derek that is correct. I've been using following links for years, one for Internet Explorer (ActiveX), the other for Firefox and all other browsers (plug-in). The links never change, they simply get removed and replaced with the same filename.

Firefox and all others:

Internet Explorer:

iMac G5 1.8GHz "Hero" PowerPC
2 x 1GB DDR PC3200 SDRAM
160GB WDC WD1600JD-40GBB2
Mac OS X Leopard Version 10.5.8

Yep, the links on the Adobe page are exactly the same as yours - I just happened to bump into them and felt I should update my response on this oldish post.

I've no idea how long they have been there but some years ago I couldn't seem to find a "file download" on any official Adobe webpage, so I assumed there wasn't one and stopped looking. Maybe I've got better at Googling LOL.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
