I have tried over and over to download Lavasoft Ad-Aware..I had it on my computer before so I know it will download...I was told shut off my anti-virus, and my firewall..tried both...still it won't download..Also tried downloading from different sites...It starts, says approx 5 hours to download (lousy slow dial up here), then 'downloads' in 10 min...and when i go to open it it says "C:\Documents and Settings\HP_Administrator\Desktop\aaw2007.exe is not a valid Win32 application".....is there ANY way i can get this program back??

AdawareSE will not be updated anymore after the first of the year. I like SE better than 2007 but looks as though it won't be an option much longer.

Try downloading 2007 from here:

I myself will only use adaware se untill they refuse to update it any more. 2007 is just not worth it to me.
I feel that Spybot S&D is much better for me ( especially with the immunize) and it works well alongside Spyware terminator which protects in real-time and is also free

Are you using a download manager like getright, fresh download etc to download the file? Some programs will not download correctly with a download manager. I downloaded an update driver for my graphics card which was over a 40mb download. Install setup would not work. Later read on nvidia website don't use download managers to download. I too am on dialup. So I just had my nephew on highspeed connection download it for me and burn to cd.

If you have any AV programs installed I suggest you run them. Response #4 may be an issue too.
edit

I believe that when the flow of data drops below a certain point your ISP may think the line is inactive an drop you off for that reason. The spped could be slow because of the spyware you suspect you have. You could DLoad both Adaware and the latest updates to a different computer and transfer them via CD, flash drive, LAN, etc. Install and run without being connected to the net. Spybot S7D 1.4 is also very good. In my previous post I linked to a site that has both and more.

i tried downloading from #2's suggestion...got the same results...I dont' have spyware on my machine, I just don't like the program I have now and would LOVE to go back to the program I loved, but it looks like that's just impossible...I will try one of the others mentioned...I don't live near anyone else w a computer to transfer...TY all.
