Can't display the search results fr

When I enter a search term in Google and click on search, a screen comes up saying that the results can not be desplayed. I contacted EarthLInk and they worked on my computer remotely and finally the results would be displayed. They did not tell me what they did but wanted to sell me a CD to run and suppose make everything OK. When I shut down my machine and rebooted, the problem reappeared. Can anyone give me any ideas of why I can't display the Google search results?

Is it just google or is it other search results as well? What browser are you using?

It only does it with Google. I am using Internet Explorer 7.0 I have a tool bar that also has a place to enter search items where Google is the default. It will not display any results from there either. Thanks for any help.
