Can't delete LSASS.exe

My friend's PC wouldn't boot-up, so I ran an XP disk on it to restore whatever went wrong. He kept getting the LSASS.exe error and XP never would run. I ran the disk, and somehow we now have XP on here twice. The PC boots up now, but all his programs are missing, although I found them in Explorer. How do I fix his old Windows and get rid of the two XP booting options when he starts his PC? Thanks
