Can't Delete Files

I can't delete certain files. When I right click to delete them the "delete or rename" choices aren't there. Also when I try to delete them on the file and folder task on the left of the folder page nothing happens. When I locate the file and do find away to try to delete them it says "The system cannot find the file specified". Plus I think they're taking up space and memory. Does anyone no how to do remove these type of files? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

TheDay, Windows protects some files and won't allow you to delete them. The way around that is to deal with them in DOS rather than Windows. There're proggies around like Ccleaner (free @ http://www.ccleaner.com/) designed for some or you can deal with them directly at a command prompt. HTH. Ed in Texas.

Thanks! I tried Ccleaner and that didn't work and I'm not familiar with using command prompt or DOS. Is there a more simplified way to do this or can you break it down in an easy to understand command prompt method? I don't want to cause more problems for myself trying to use command prompt the wrong way. Thanks!
