I've somehow landed one of these ad "search bars." I'm not sure how I got it. I ran adaware and spybot both and they found no problems. It appears with everything I open in Explorer. It is not in the add and remove software list in control panel. I've isolated the file which is in the downloaded program files, but I can't delete it. I've tried rebooting and I get a "Share Violation" message that says, "These program files are currently being used by one or more programs. Please close some programs and try again. You may need to restart Windows." This folder is the only thing open on my system. Can anyone tell me how to get rid of this stupid thing?
Thanks.

The only new software I've installed is Spybot trying to get rid of this toolbar.

The file should delete without a "These program files are currently being used. . ." message in Safe Mode.

I just figured that out Solarian. Thanks. I'm discovering more and more the greatness of safe mode.

You can also get MoveOnBoot from google search. It deletes the file on boot before XP can load it. Free.
