can't delete file!

when i try to delete this file this message comes up and it won't delete - cannot delete file: cannot read from the source file or disk. How do I delete the file?

the read only attribute has nothing to do with not being able to delete the file.
It might help if you gave us more info on what file it is that you're trying to delete.

The "uncheck read only" idea wasn't mine. I went searching google for "cannot read source file" and that is what I found in some forum. Oh, well, I'm learning.
I've had the same problem and finally got the file deleted, but that was a while back and I can't remember how I did it.

I've had some success deleting stubborn files by creating an empty text file with notepad. Name it the same as the file you want to get rid of, overwriting it...then delete it.
Works most of the time.
If it's a constant problem with deleting AVI files, let me know...there's a registry fix I can dig up for you.
