Okay, I'll start with the most major problem. I can't actually delete any files. When I try, it gives me a pop up box that says
"Windows Explorer has experienced a problem and needs to close"
Another problem is, I can't access many websites, even though I know they are are not down I get a "Page Cannot Be Displayed" error.
I have run virus checking software and so far, nothing.
This is getting quite frustrating and any help would be greatly appriciated.

Assume you've tried rebooting. Do you have AdAware and Spybot? If not download them, update them, and run scans to see what spyware you may have.

Yeah, I already tried the spyware route. No joy im afraid. Thanks anyway.
It won't even allow me to do a System Restore either.

Sounds to me like you need to do a repair installation of XP, if not a complete reinstallation. When my System Restore refused to work I was advised by Dell to reinstall XP. Worked like a charm, and that was about a year and a half ago. Still running great.
