Subject: Can't Delete A Folder!!!OS: Windows XP Home EditionCPU/Ram: 2.4 Celeron/128MB Ram |
Comment: For some reason I can't delete a folder off my system. It says that it cannot delete and that access is denied. I tried to set it where it's not read-only access (and all files within) but it won't work. I can cut and paste it anywhere on my system (except the recycle bin) but can't copy or delete it. Just for clarification, it is a game folder and it is not in the add/remove programs either. Can anyone tell me how to remove it from my system? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Reply: (edit)Did you try booting in safe mode and delete it from there? I've already gotten rid of stubborn files by opening Notepad and saving a blank text field as..."filename.exe" (or whatever name it is, including the extension) and overwrite the original file. If it won't overwrite directly when you save, then save it to another location and move it to the original file's folder. Once it's overwritten, simply delete the new 0kb file. It's worth a shot. Not 100% Hope this helps. SullyD

Reply: (edit)OK. I finally was able to delete it but not by using safe mode or anything like that. I right-clicked the file and selected properties. Then I selected the security tab (which was on that folder but not on any others that I know of) and set permissions to owner (me) and selected to overwrite the previous security settings. After messing with that for a little while I was able to delete it. Thanks everyone for the help.
