i know there has been posts like this. but i can't find what i'm looking for. anyway. i can't delete a folder with a file inside. when i go to delete the folder, it tells me that it can't find the specified file thats inside of it. its really bugging me. i've tried deleting it from a cmd prompt, tried running it from a new process in the taskmgr. and it always tells me it can't find the file. i've even tried defragging, running adware, a anti-trojan program, and even scanning it with my virus scanner(AVG) and i still can't get rid of it. i also tried rebooting into safe mode, but when i got the screen for what to boot into, it only had XP Pro. so if someone could help me out, i would really like it.

Try, deleting it in registry. Go to Start, Run then type - regedit. Then just go to edit, find then type the name of your file/folder and once you found it, delete it.
Hope this work, goodluck!

i just tried that. and it didn't work. i deleted it out. and then restarted, and its still there. its really starting to bug me. please let me know if you can think of anything else

I had something like this awhile back ...
The ONLY thing that worked for me was booting with ERD commander from winternals.
It gives you windows and explorer OUTSIDE of windows... so you can see EVERYTHING and change ANYTHING ...
IF you don't have an extra $899 for the program, you can prolly find a copy on p2p ...
Good luck.

download a hex editor and edit sfcfiles.dll ... remove the names (from the dll) that you want to delete from windows explorer, then delete folders from windows explorer. when you reboot, they will not return.

Bill's way works but you have to delete the sfcfiles.dll out of thr system32\dllcache folder before you do it. If you don't the hacked version will be replaced with the original. I'm too lazy to do it every time I reinstall windows so I just got done making a patch to do it for me LOL.
Sandman

thanks for all the info guys. i got it to go away, by mooving the file around like mad, and the computer made like 3 copies of it, and the file became unstuck. no idea how it happened, but its gone. thanks again:)
