Im having problem defragmenting my harddrive When i start the defrag its always says it cant defrag this file windowns\system32\sqlmdl.dll.So i go to windows folder look in system32 and look for the .dll, thing is it aint there.I even go to folder option, show all hidden folders and files,YET IT STILL AINT THERE!.I even used the search option to find the file in windows no luck.I belive it has something to do with spyware after running a bombardment of spyware cleaners like spybot, adaware, cwshredder, hijackthis regcleaner, spybot found nil adaware found 3 yet when i deleted them they always came back after using cwshredder and hijackthis i belive i got rid of it.Thing is this sqlmld.dll is there i defrag my hd once a week and have never had this problem so thats why i think it has to do with this spyware i got.WHat i want to do is delete this file,i have look everywhere for info on this file yet it seems noone has ever heard of it.How do i find this file and delete it.Could the reason why i cant defrag this file cuz its in memory. Please help me find this file and delete it.

In the RUN box enter CHKDSK/F to fix your likely HD problem. It'll schedule a scan on reboot.

Download hijackthis from download.com and run that.

If that don't get it, try CWShredder. Do a google search and find it. You have a browser hijacker in your system that AdAware and Spybot won't catch. BTW have you updated those lately?

This file may have been set as a system file.....
Try unhiding Protected Operating System Files (Folder Options/View/Advanced Settings). Also delete any references to this file in the registry.

If u can now see the file, try and delete it - also delete any references to this file in the registry.
If it keeps coming back and defrag still won't work, then bootup from a Win98 (or ME) floppy startup disk and delete it via a dos command:
A:\>del C:\Windows\System32\sqlmdl.dll

When u next re-start ur PC the drive will most likely get scanned and the file may still be there, but u WILL now be able to delete it in Windows.

This has been my experience on a machine I fixed recently with a corrupted file that wouldn't delete and prevented a defrag.

Also try PestPatrol for clearing spyware and hijackers from ur system - it works better than all the others.

GoodLuck
