I got hit by a virus (SpySheriff) which has been removed, but now I can't deactivate my Active Desktop. I have tried many of the suggestions on this site but nothing seems to work. Help!!

Perhaps SpySheriff hasn't been purged from your PC as you thought. It won't hurt to see how others succeed in getting back control of the deskt. Read this to try the steps outlined. Please don't forgot to post back to let us know how you make out.

Thanks guys. Managed to get Active Desktop deactivated - what I hadn't done previously was reboot my computer after making some of the changes you suggested.
