Can't create second network connect

Hi all, I have recently been given a new Toshiba laptop from my boss who wants me to set up a network connection for his cable modem at home. Presently the laptop is set up to connect in the office. I thought this would just be a simple matter of adding another network connection in the control panel but when I try to use the wizard I keep getting sent to a step that makes me select an existing connection rather than creating a new one. What am I missing? I select create a home/office lan connection and after that I'm lost. I've never had this issue come up in any other OS.
