ok!I want to restore dial up connection in my laptop which has lan configuration. I tried to create a new connection. you know: control Panel->network connection->create new connection. So I got the 'Welcome to the new Connection wizard'. I clicked 'next'. And for 'network connection type' I want 'Connect to the internet', so I clicked on it and press 'next'. Then I choose 'set up connection manually'. But I can't click to the 'connect using a dial-up modem'.The only option I can click on is 'Connect using a broadband that is always on'. The thing is this computer was connected through LAN in the past, but now I want a dial-up connection to connect to my ISP internet basic option (the one I want to use now). I can see the 'connect using a dial-up modem' but there's no clicking option (you know!it's kind of blurred). SO what should I do.
In device manager I see Modems-Toshiba software modem amr (it says device is working properly). And I have in Network adapters-intel pro/100 ve network connection. I uninstalled it but the same thing happen when I tried the 'create a new connection steps. SO, what should I do?

Evansdur, pureSWAG, could it be the modem? Some broadband modems don't play well with dialup as they go too fast to operate at the 56K speed of dialup. See if your modem settings like that speed.

Are you sure you indeed have a modem on the machine and that it's not disabled?

First of all, in phone and modem option it's shown the following modems are installed (only 1): Toshiba Software (internal) Modem AMR. And in Properties it's said : device is working properly. When I check maximum port speed I have:300,1200,2400,4800,9600,19200,38400,57600,115200.Are those the actual speed of the modem? If yes does that mean I can't have 56k dial up configuration. Remember! my problem was I am not even offered the dial up option when I go to 'create new connection' in Network Connections. I am only allowed to have "connect using a broadband connection that is always on".
