Can't copy files to CD

I have some folders with programs I would like to copy to a CD, but I can’t get the computer to write the files to the CD. When I click “Writes These Files” ,the copy wizard pops up a message that says there is no CD in the drive, but there is and the computer recognizes it as a CD-RW or CD-R. I have no problems loading programs from the CD player and I can Burn music as well.
Am I missing something here? At first I thought it was because I was using a CD-R not a CD-RW, but I tried a CD-RW and it still doesn’t work. I know the computer recognizes it because when I stick a CD-R in, it shows a CD-R in the drive and same goes for a CD-RW. Thanks.

I think you need to post more info - like what writing sofware you are using, if you got any available patches for your software, if you checked the manufacturer's site to see if there were any known issues. Do you perhaps have an older writer that doesn't support the ultra fast CDs?

Two things I can think of, 1. Right click drive in windows explorer and click the recording tab and see if it's enabled. 2. You have the Imapa disabled in services.msc and are using a 3rd party software for burning music.

My optical drive is CD-RW LITE-ON LTR-24102B. I don't use a 3rd party writing software and burn music with WMP9. Imapi service is set to manual and recording is enabled. Sometimes when I restart the computer, the problem disappears.
