My computer has been updated with the latest patches, drivers etc. but I cannot copy to any device that has usb 2.0 interface. I have a 30GB ipod, 2.5GB mp3 player, 500GB WDMybook External hard disk. All these devices use USB 2.0. I cannot copy a single file, regardless of the size or location to any of these devices. I can also confirm that ALL these devices work on another computer. Everytime i attempt to copy a file, thats the end of my windows session. shutdown is also not possible. I have to cut the power.
I am not using a USB Hub. What is a weak leg? My phone which works on USB 1.1, USB Joystick and USB Joypad all work fine from the same port.

A weak leg in this context would refer to a weak branch or bundle of wires coming from the power supply. Not physically weak, but weak in power output.
Just out of curiosity, have any USB 2 devices ever worked on this port. I see you mention USB1.1's.
Have you checked the BIOS to see if the high speed side of the USB bus is enabled there?
