I can logon on to AOL. I can also use all of the AOL functions (e-mail, calendar, billing, etc.) HOWEVER, I can't search the web with any browsers (AOL,IE, Netscape, etc.)nor can I use search engines (Google, excite..) And I am not using any firewalls.

Can you goto websites at all?... not search engines... but like... http://www.microsoft.com
Can you go there?
What happens when you search?... does anything come up... or does it just sit?... any error messages??

I can't go to any websites. An error appears and states that it cannot open it or can't find the website.

Are you on DailUp or BroadBand ? - same happens to me if I lose my Connection - IE won't 'go' anywhere afer Re-connecting - cured by Re-starting and then Re-connectingDon't know how AOL 'works' though - maybe different

Are you using a Proxy?...some times they go down and won't load your pages... To check:
Goto (in IE):
Tools, Internet Options, Connections, LAN Settings. Or something very similar. If you've got a string of numbers in your "proxy box"... something like 24.56.895.24... get rid of the numbers or uncheck the "Use a Proxy Server".

If you are on AOL 8.0 I know a few people were complaining about trouble accessing the net. Most people feel they haven't worked the bugs out of this version but I have never had problems with AOL including 8.0. If you are using 8.0 see if you have an older version on the computer like 4.0 or 5.0 to try and if you are using dial up try some different access numbers for your area. If it's an AOL problem since they are in a world of their own it's best to use their help boards in the Windows community or call them. I know any time I have questions I use the help boards in the Windows community and the volunteers are super nice.

I just got back from school and I tried connecting to the internet without configuring my settings and it works. I can now browse websites.
Thanks for the responses!
