Hello. I hope someone can help me with this. Last night I installed E-donkey (a peer to peer program), and afterwards I couldn't connect to the internet! I thought maybe it installed spyware so I ran adaware, spybot, and AVG, which removed some things, but I still can't connect to the internet. My cable modem and router are working fine; in fact, I'm using my sister's computer to send this, and she is on my network. She is having no problems with connecting to the internet. I'm not sure what to try. I'm desperate at this point! Does anyone have any ideas? Please help!!

Uninstall E-Donkey and reboot. If it's still not working, try a system restore to a date before the install.

Hi. I tried to repair the connection and I get an error saying it can't renew the IP. And I did uninstall E-donkey, and it didn't help. And even though I have system restore on, for some reason there were no restore points to go back to.

I believe the spyware is Newdotnet, and I thought it was completely removed, but i searched my registry and I found something in a Winsock2 folder, and I have a feeling it might be the problem. But I'm concerned about deleting the registry key without knowing more about it. It's in HKEY_LOCAL_Machine>system>winsock2>Parameters>NameSpace_Catalog5>CatalogEntries>000000000004

and the info is called New.net and has something saying Library Path c:\program files\newdotnet\newdotnet3_88.dll

But that path no longer exists cause I uninstalled NewDotNet. And it looks like the other stuff in the winsock2 folder have to do with the network card and such, so I'm worried that there's a tie in. Would it be safe to delete it? If anyone can help, please reply! Thank you!

Just a small note on your system restore. Turn it off, reboot, and turn it back on again. You'll lose all previous points but new ones should work OK.
