i'll try to make it quick and simple computer #1 and #2 are happily connected to the internet via ethernet cable connected to and from a linkys router which is connected to a broadband cable box. Everything works fine. computer #3 wants to connect to the internet, too. So computer #3 connects to the router via ethernet cable, too. However, computer #3 gets an "acquiring network address" for a long time and once in a while will connect for about 2 or 3 seconds and then goes back to "acquiring network address" mode. Everything still works fine for computer #1 and computer #2. They both can still connect to the internet. But computer #3 can't, something is wrong with computer #3. Help!!

Try the repair function on the network connection. If that doesn't work, try the link lost your connection in my signature and use both utilities which are listed on the same page, winsockfix and lsp fix. Obviously you can't get online, so you may have to download those 2 small progs on a floppy or cdrw. Let us know how you make out.
