Comment:

Hi
I have just bought a Plll 500 MHz -256mb ram PC.
I am using dialup connection.
I installed Win XP in it but it didn't connect to internet.
Here is what happens when i try to connect to internet.

It dials -so modem is fine
It tries to varify the username & password.
Then it gives me the following message.

"Error 619: A connection to the remote computer could not be established, so port used for this connection was closed. For further assistance click More Info. or search help & support center for this error number."

The same connection works fine in WinME & IP is fine too.
(i had to install winME in that computer since internet doesn't work in winXP.)
I really need Xp in this box.

I tried help & support center but still the same problem.
Can anybody help me with this please?
Is there any known issue ?

At that point, the computer is working fine. At that point, your fate rests solely with the Internet Service Provider. If the connection fails at that point, then you need to contact the ISP and have them help you get connected.

If the WinME programming works then the XP Software will work too. The ISP may be looking in the wrong XP folder for the proper data.

I'd first confirm that the dial-up connection/TCP/IP configuration is properly configured. Also, make sure that you configured the actual Network Connection properly with the correct phone number, etc.
