Can't change BIOS settings

March 26, 2006 at 14:29:42
Specs: Windows XP, 1.6ghz, 256mb
I'm trying to format my brothers pc, and hence want to make it boot off the cdrom drive at startup. However, when i go into bios and then head to advanced bios features I can't change any of the settings. the cursor won't even scroll up and down the options. What's going on? It hasn't "crashed" as I can exit the screen and save and whatnot. It's a Shuttle MK35N motherboard with the Phoenix bios setup (which I think is pretty standard).

Any help much appreciated

Can you scroll up and down using the arrow keys and change the options with page up and page down keys?

I can scroll up and down the options on the main menu screen e.g. from Standard CMOS features to Advanced BIOS Features to Save & Exit Setup etc etc. However, when I move into Advanced BIOS Features I can't scroll up or down - all the options are greyed(Blued) out.

In the other menus I can change a couple of the settings but I can't chnage the time in Standard CMOS settings for example. It won't even let me scroll onto the hour/date etc, i can only scroll up and down the IDE primary and secondary settings

Sorted by reflashing the BIOS (first time round I did it incorrectly and didn't realise). Thanks anyway
