When I try to cancel a print job that's in progress, it won't cancel. The job's status line in the print queue says "deleting" but it keeps printing. We power down the machine to clear the RAM, then boot up again, but it resumes the print job. Does XP keep print jobs in a file instead of RAM? Does anyone know how to delete a job in progress? Very frustrating. Thanx.

do you have admin rights to the machine? it also may be in the printers buffer. unplug the printer for about 5 seconds and then plug it back in.

I check out your situation using my printer.
It does the same thing. The print job only got removed when printer was turned off.I myself, do not keep a stack of paper in the hopper of the printer. When I print, I put one piece of paper in at a time. Then when its done
printing one side, I put the same paper back in
to print the other side of the same paper.

On the Start bar, when you print, a small printer icon appears. if you double click that a large window appears and in the Fule menu the option to 'Cancel Print Job' appears and this will cancel your job. If the whole job has been spooled it probably won't cancel until the job has completed. If it is a very large job it will cancel after the section that has been cahed is depleted and then it will not spool the rest of the job.

I have same OS. I click on printer icon in sys tray, highlight the job and press the delete key. The print job is cancelled. I have an HP 960cse printer. It may have something to do with the model of printer.

Thanks for the responses, people. For those who suggested turning the equipment off so the cache and RAM clear, no go. I've unplugger the printer and powered down the computer for about two minutes, and when I started them up again the job continued. For those who suggested opening the printer cache and just deleting the job, that doesn't work either. It says "deleting" but it isn't canceling the job. The printer keeps going. It may indeed be something weird with this printer, an HP LJ1200, so I'll check with HP folks. But it's good to see I'm not alone in this prob.
Cheers!
