Can't burn in XP

For some reason I can't burn directly from XP but can from media player. When I try to drag and drop to the drive it does nothing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, about a month or so ago. Never worried about it untill I had to burn something. I haven't had any software changes or anything like that so I am not sure why it is happening.

Go to Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Services and ensure that the IMAPI CD-Burning COM Service is running (not sure if this will work though).
If the earth was created by a big bang, how come my car or computer or anything else isn't created the same way?

Just in case! XP will only burn to a CD. It will not burn to a DVD.

Go to My Computer right click on your burner drive and go to the properties screen. Click on the Recording tab. Make sure there is a tick mark in the box that says "Enable CD recording on this drive".

I know this is not what youre asking, but I use a free program called "CD Burner XP Pro" its free and will burn to either a cd or dvd, and i have not had a problem yet. It will make a music or dada dvd. I have never burned using xp.
