Hi,
I have a Yamakawa DVR-Y08 burner that can burn both DVD-R and DVD+R. I recently bought some DVD+R media to burn some files and everytime I try to burn it, it fails. I was able to burn DVD-R without any problems. But when I try to burn DVD+R, it doesn't work. I wasted at least 5 disks already trying to figure this problem. I am using Nero 6 software to burn. I also download the trial version of DVD santa to try and it didn't work either. Is it my hardware that's the problem? The hardware does burn both -R and +R though. Any ideas? Also, I noticed that when I put in a blank DVD+R media into the burner, the name changes to a CD instead of a DVD. I'm about to give up on this. Hope somoene can help. Thanks in advance.

If the DVDs are a different brand that might be your problem. Not all brands worth with all Mfrs. Check with the Mfr. for the approved brands.

explain your IDE configuration (primary/secondary, master/slave), & whether you're attempting to burn "on the fly" or from the HDD
ASUS A7N8X-X
Athlon XP 1800+
8.5 x 200MHz
1024MB PC3200 2.5-3-3-7
Asus A9550GE/TD 128MB
WinME/WinXP Pro SP1

What brand are you using? I personal only trust certain brands. I had the same problem as you b4 when i was using cheap DVD+R's, but when I tried BenQ DVD+R's they worked fine. I only trust BenQ, Sony, Fujifilm, Princo, and others. Good-luck. (If that doesn't work, try updating your firmware)

My IDE config is as follows:
the dvd burner is the master while my other dvd-rom is secondary. I'm burning the files on the HDD, so does that count as "on the fly"?The DVD+R media is Sony, which is not a cheezy brand. I have the same Sony for DVD-R and that burns fine.
