can't boot WinXP after installing W2K

Trying to dual boot with XP and 2000. However I got the installation order wrong. First I have my primary FAT32 installed with XP then I installed Win2000 into a NTFS logical drive. I know I should have installed 2000 before XP. Now in the boot menu, I can only boot 2000. When I boot XP, it's complaining \WINDOWS\system32\config\SYSTEMd can't be found or corrupted.
Any workaround I can boot my XP again ? I noticed that are some *.sav file under my \WINDOWS\system32\config directory. Does it help ?
use your winxp cd and boot from it and choose repair. that will put u to a c: prompt and there is a command that will the fix master boot record(MBR). I believe it is mbrfix.exe,
The only thing you have to do is go into windows 2000, put your XP-cd in your drive and copy the following files from CD to your C:-drive:, boot.ini, ntdetect.com and ntldr. Confirm overwriting and you're done! (You might want to backup these 3 files before overwriting!) I'm not sure if you really need the ntldr file, you could try without. Good luck, it worked just fine for me many times already. Please post your success or failure.

Thank you guys for the suggestions: I will try it out tomorow. I've a few comment:
Paul - if I use your method, does that mean I won't see the dual boot menu anymore and I can't boot into Win2000 anymore ?
Vince, Waldo - Dooes the two methods suggested allow me to dual boot again to either XP and 2000 ?
Just want to verify before I try.
Thanks a lot.

Waldo,
Your suggested solution works perfectly. I didn't dare to try the other options.

Summary: installing win98 to the d:\ drive wasn't a good idea, but winxp should still recognise it. if it doesn't, you have to change the settings in your boot.ini (search the forum using the keyword "boot.in...
