My friend has an old computer with Intel Desktop board and Pentium 3 @ 933 MHz.
Everytime Windows starts, just after Windows XP boot screen, a blue screen shows up for less than a second then the computer restarts.
I turned off BIOS rapid boot to see if there is any note, I got two notes :-
One, Keyboard error (I've changed the keyboard nothing happens about this note, it appears again)
Two, Serial Presence Detect (SPD) Device data is missing or not conclusive. (I don't what's this ?)So, please does anyone know how to solve this ? I tried to repair the current Windows XP, the first step of the setup ran well (Where I can format hard drive) but, I can't boot the setup (Windows Installation) too. Blue screen for no time then, auto restart.

SPD
"Motherboard BIOSes read the SPD information to configure the memory controller."

Possibly bad memory or even a dying motherboard!!

Actually, both are possible for such an old pc however, can I solve this ?
I'm going to check RAM sticks installed, he has 2 sticks (128 MB per stick).
He currently has Windows XP on his pc, could Windows 98 help solving this ? I'll remove his RAM one by one and see which one is gone and if both don't work then, maybe the mboard is gone as you say.

I've checked the RAM sticks, both are working, the only thing remaining that his motherboard is gone.
So, Can I provide new SPD data for the same motherboard again or, I have to change it.
Thanks a lot.
