Hello I am trying to reformat my drive due to various problems. I can't seem to get it to boot from cd even though I changed the bios boot sequence to cd first. it just seems to ignore this and goes to the hd and boots. I do not have a floppy drive :( (oh the days when it was just so easy....lol) please help. also I have checked for that screen too that goes by quickly . so any suggestions on how to get this thing to boot to cd? Sorry longwinded, but thanks so much in advance for your time and help :) Tony

Watch for the prompt to "Press any to boot from the CD/ROM ,it only stays for a few seconds.

Are you certain that you changed the boot order in bios to CDROM first , saved changes and exited? Is the CD in the drive? Is it a genuine XP CD?

hello all, Thanks for your reply's, I appreciate the time you take. I learned something new, so I figure I should post it. When I changed the boot sequence to cd-rom it didn't work. But since this is my first PC without a floppy drive I thought I was hosed. lol. For the heck of it after my 5th try, I inserted my xp os cd into my dvd drive and poof it worked. I never knew you could do this with a dvd drive. so live and learn. after xp was finished installing I changed back to using the cdrom drive to install the rest of my programs. So, thanks to those of you that tried to help and maybe this post will help others that no long have a floppy drive, but have a cd-rom and dvd drive. Interestingly though the dvd drive is not shown in the boot sequence.
