I doubt 'very much' that the CD is bootable.

Just in case the CD 'is' bootable, the first thing you have to do is change the bios settings so the cdrom drive is first in the boot sequence.
I don't know what you meant by 'auto'. I've never seen that in the boot sequence settings, but if it is there, I don't think it will work.

During the boot sequence, you'll see "Press any key to boot from CD" (or words to that effect), at the bottom of your screen. It appears for an indecently short period of time, so it's easy to miss. If you don't press a key within the limited time allowed, the machine will continue on to booting from the hard drive.
Of course, this is all dependent on your BIOS allowing you to boot from CD. Like max00, I've never seen an "Auto" setting in the boot order. Are you sure you're looking in the right section of the BIOS?

I don't see Press any key to boot from CD and this CD contains SLAX and it includes ophcrack and AUTO means the BIOS auto detects you drives.I tried booting from MS-DOS startup disk and typing d: but it won't allow me says Invalid drive.

Auto detecting the drives/devices just lets your computer "see" the devices, it doesn't set the boot order. Boot order is in another page of your BIOS screen. You need to look through your BIOS for the boot order settings.
