I tried some of the programs that syncronize the clock with an atomic clock, and noticed they would adjust it, but it was still off by minutes and seconds. Even using the built in time sync. on xp, it acts like everything is fine, but still doesn't correct clock. I then went to the manual adjust, and noticed that the clock changes transiently, but then goes back to the same time. Looking at the programs syncronize with the atomic clock, the same thing is happening, i.e. the clock changes temporarily, and reverts to the same setting. I even disabled the network, unplugged cable, so it is not comming from the router, or anything.
The clock can be manually adjusted at boot up under the bios screens, and has whatever I set it to when XP boots up, but again, can't change it under XP. I tried the uninstall, and reinstall time service, but it did not fix the problem. Only peculiarity I noticed was that when I used the w32tm /unregister command it says w32tm successfully registered. I don't think this is a cmos battery problem since the clock does seem to keep good time, just off on the setting. Thanks,
Murray

On your Date and time icon, right click and go to Adjust Time/Clock. Check your time zone. I had the same problem. Mine was set to Tijuana, Jamaica, when its suppose to be Eastern time.

Hi
If you have nortons installed on your system it will cause a time loss also. What you have to do is go into the setting for the clock
and uncheck the sync with internet clock. This
will keep the time correct.Your cmos battery
should last about 5 years in the comp without
any problems.
