The overall problem I have is that I can't access some web sites. (classmates.com and dvdeastereggs.com) When I try to access these sites I "the page cannot be displayed..." This happens almost the instant that I type in the address. It is like the system is NOT even going out to the internet to look for this page.
ALso another problem that I'm having that might be related is that some of the add windows on sites that I can get to come up with "ACTION CANCLED... Internet explorer was unable to ling to the web page you..."
It is almost like there is a list of sites somewhere on my system that I can't access.
These problmes started about a week ago, up to then I no problems. Now what i've done already...
1. I've gone through and deleted all entries to CLASSMATES.com in my registery
2. I've uninstalled IE6 and reinstalled (at least to best I could)I've not installed any new software lately.
Please help.
Thanks

hello
try disableing the xp fire wall.
and or check your thrid part fire wall settings.
delete all cookies and temp folders.

Thanks for the ideas, but they did not work.
I disabled the XP F.W., and deleted all cookies and temp folders. (I already tried disableing the 3rd party firewall). The only difference now is that I am directed to the MSN "we can't find" page that has CLASSMATES.COM listed. I try clicking on the link provided by MSN, and still can't get to Classmates.com

THINK I FOUND THE PROBLEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the directory: fileC:_WINDOWS_system32_drivers_etc_
There is a file called HOST. in this file was a long list of websites (including the 2 listed above). When I tried to hit a bunch of these sites I got the above problem. After renaming the file I was able to hit ALL the web site, including the 2 listed above.
